Lives and works in Western Massachusetts and New York.
Erika Knerr was born in Lancaster, PA in 1962, studied at Tyler School of Art, Tyler Rome and received her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Her performance work has evolved around painting and large scale installations. She also collaborates with the experimental LAB group in which Pick Up Sticks (performed here) evolved. She has been included in one person and group exhibitions and festivals internationally, including Mediations Biennale in Poznan, Poland in 2008. She was one of the principal artists with Lance Fung Gallery through 2003 and most recently she participated in his Wonderland Exhibition in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco in which her collaborative team contributed the “Block Party” event score.
She served as art director of New Observations Magazine in New York from 1991-2001. She is currently editorial director of Artist Organized Art, Inc. and President of New Observations now reforming with AOA.
